On the 4th of July, which is this coming Saturday, a local group has put out a call to the community to participate in what they are calling the “People’s Forum and Occupation“. This event is scheduled to take place 7pm that day at the Headquarters of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The group “Organize the State Out” has already been involved with several “Black Lives Matter” based protests in Las Vegas. Many of those whom are involved in the group have a long history of activism within (and outside) the local area, predating the current actions sparked by the murder of George Floyd.
Although, for obvious reasons, recent protests have focused on opposing police terrorism and State violence, “OTSO” is also involved in actions intended to build and strengthen community. In doing so, the people can therefore eliminate the dependence on the police state that enables those things. Defunding the police means not only shifting those resources to funding our communities, but also eliminating the biggest and most consistent threat to them.
As is stated in the description below, not only will tribute be paid to the known victims of the police, both locally and nationally, but those who attend will have an opportunity to tell their own stories and experiences. Plus, it will be an opportunity to meet and connect with others who are looking to build an independent and free community.

Come BE HEARD at this occupation. The mic will be passed and we will record/document PEOPLE wanting to testify as to their experience living in a police state to provide further evidence of why change is not only required but critical to truly living free of corrupt systems and control. Please plan on occupying this space while during this action. JOIN US!
With Blacks and Browns LEADING we have successfully organized the PEOPLE to THINK radically about the options we have to RESTRUCTURE our communities, DEFUND the police, and DEMAND our voices be heard.
INITIATIVES have and will continue to be distributed!
RALLIES allowed the people’s responses to be witnessed!
Our MARCHES and PROTESTS shook our city!
And we EXPOSED dirty police tactics.
ALL of the actions we are seeing across this country are in response to police terrorism and other racially charged inequalities in our communities.
We wanted to create a FORUM for us to document the people and the stories of encounters and interactions within this state’s concentration camps, and with the police on the streets.
Organized of the PEOPLE, and for the PEOPLE to advocate our right of SELF-DETERMINATION! We are Taking our POWER back!

What code of conduct is needed in our communities?
What politicians need targeted to get demands met?
