In late December, Deputy Erick Montez raped an inmate inside a jail van in a parking lot at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. Contrary to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office rules, Montez was transporting the inmate by himself. Male deputies are required to have a female deputy present when transporting female inmates. He also apparently had no justifiable reason to be transferring her in the first place. The sexual assault was captured on surveillance cameras.

A Bexar County detention deputy was arrested Tuesday on a charge he sexually assaulted a female inmate.
The victim said Erick Montez, 35, had sex with her while he was on duty in one of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office transportation vans on Dec. 27, 2015.
A criminal complaint said surveillance video showed Montez in full uniform transporting the alleged victim from the county’s annex to the jail. The complaint said “there was no reason for the complainant to be transported during midnight hours.”
The complaint said Montez parked the van in the Bexar County parking lot, “exited the driver side and approached the complainant in the back seat area.”
It said the nine-minute-long incident included Montez “pulling the complainant towards him in a forceful way.”
The complaint also said Montez admitted he had sex with the alleged victim.
Montez was charged Tuesday with sexual assault and violating the civil rights of a person in custody.
Deputy Montez was officially fired on January 13th.
