This video was submitted by Severin Freeman, the founder of Lehigh Valley CopBlock, via the CopBlock.org submissions page after it was uploaded to their YouTube Channel. It shows his interaction with an officer (and later his supervisor) during a DUI checkpoint in Lehigh Township, Pennsylvania. The officer, who refused to identify himself even though he is required to, approaches and demands his driver’s license. Severin asks him to state what law he suspects him of having committed in order to establish probable cause for a legal detention. They go back and forth for several minutes, with the officer complaining that Severin is “one of those Sovereign Citizens.”

Soon, Officer Johnathon Roth, the Checkpoint Supervisor, approaches. The unnamed officer tells him that Severin has refused to provide a driver’s license and that he is a “Sovereign Citizen.” Officer Ross states, “he doesn’t appear to be impaired and he’s wearing his seatbelt, let him go.” Soon after, while Severin is still trying to ascertain the original officer’s name and badge number, Officer Ross actually begins demanding that he leave the checkpoint, threatening to declare that he has “abandoned his vehicle” and have it towed. At that point, Severin drives through the checkpoint.

LehighValleyCBLogoEditor’s note: While this was effective in this instance, results may vary in your own state/city. You should always make sure you are aware of local laws. For instance, legally in Nevada you are required to show a driver’s license when you are driving a vehicle without probable cause for a crime. You may disagree with such a requirement and decide you want to fight that law, but you should be aware of the risks involved in doing so, in order to make a conscious decision about accepting such risk. It’s also, obviously, very important that you always film the police during any encounter, because regardless of whether you are in the right, it’s their word against yours without that video.

  1. “None shall pass”

  2. I would further request that the pigs present THEIR driver license…..since they think it’s ok to ask for yours w/out probable cause.
Watch how quick they refuse giving up where THEY live.

  3. How did this guy crush the officers? You copblockers sure have a lot of fantasies. By the way, it’s not the law that PD have to give you their name. It’s departmental policy dipshit. Sovereign idiots are hilarious to watch get beat down in court and made asses of by the PD.

    1. Well, let’s see. He went through a check point, the officer demanded his licence, He refused to give it to him without the officer articulating a charge or suspicion of a charge. The supervisor had to tell the officer to let him go. You and I both know that officer was steaming because the driver wouldn’t “respect his authority”. No one said he was a “Sovereign Citizen” EXCEPT for the officer. He is just another CopBlocker, and he CRUSHED the officer. Take your bootlicking, copsucking argument somewhere else, because everyone here knows you are a) an officer, or b) related to an officer, or c) just another slave to the state who can’t help but defend the status quo. Checkpoints are unconstitutional, and reminiscent of NAZI GERMANY where you had to stop at a checkpoint and show your papers. This is the USA, and we have a constitution, the same constitution these officers swore an oath (promise) to uphold and defend, but BREAK that oath on a daily basis.

      1. Capitalism in the final stages of wealth and resource acquisition has two paradigm choices.
One is to share the wealth with disenfranchised folks and provide for the general welfare as morality and the constitution dictate.
The other, which we are experiencing, is to establish a fascist police state and oppress the poor.
I salute all COPBLOCKERS, The revolution is on!

        1. Oh, pleeze. Marxism as economic hypothesis has usable components (the ‘theory’ of labor) but as a unified predictive economic theory it’s a bust. Just like it’s a bust as political theory. Even Stalin declared, in ’42, socialism (Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist) as nationalist, rebutting the entire premise of socialism only rising from the death of capitalism through those final stages. . Why any economic treatise is turned into a political ideology is the problem with people.

And, your dichotomy is false. The USA is providing for the general welfare through it’s societal safety net. LBJ, the Great Society, 50 years. It’s expanded beyond what LBJ, the asshole, envisioned.

In fact, the Marxist nations are just, to use Sontags turn of phrase, Fascism with a human face. Or, more exacting, the ex-communist Orwell’s “If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.” That’s Marxism and Fascism as political theory.

          1. Well said.

      2. ” Checkpoints are unconstitutional”. No they aren’t. In some states (roughly 10) they are by little “c”, but Federally they aren’t by big “C”. You had just as well argue that “separate but equal” is Constitutional no matter what SCOTUS ( said. SCOTUS is the arbiter, often a poor one, but has the final say. You don’t.

And just to help you, the 50 states are sovereign. Their constitutions can “give” you more rights than the Federal, they just can’t do less after Incorporation.

DUI checkpoints are not equivalent to NAZI GERMANY and the tired “show me your papers”, what they are is an excuse to find other crimes. If DUI was the majority of arrests at a DUI checkpont, then it would make sense to call it a DUI checkpoint. That’s not what actually happens because SCOTUS, and the States, went “but since we are there, we can check for other things”.

The swearing the oath to the Federal Constitution has a problem because it isn’t The Law in these 50 sovereign states except where the laws of the 50 states breakwith Incorporation. If you want a unitary government, go look elsewhere.

      3. It’s up to the officer when to let him go. The rest of your rants are just BS. These are DUI checkpoints. They will never go away. The supreme court has ruled they do not violate anyone’s rights. The only cocksucker is you. You can’t even figure out what’s what. I suggest you go sit on a finger until a knuckle pops.

    3. So an officer that doesn’t identify, name and badge, is violating policies and procedures? And then we have the issue: is that P&P law? Of course not, but it is held as law when applied to non-cops.

A bigger issue over government serving the people: wouldn’t you want the police to be required by statute to identify themselves fully to anyone that asks? Or do you prefer secret police (I had fun doing your simple dichotomies)? Authoritarians, no matter the regime, will usually answer “no” to the first (with a jeremiad of excuses). Authoritarians in the 1st World will deny they want secret police while justifing every reason to keep police identities secret.

    4. Did he give the officers his license? Dumbshit.

    5. He made the cop look like an idiot, JC. He also said that it was the cop’s policy to identify themselves. How can you abandon something by staying in it? Are all cops as stupid as this, JC? And why do all you people think that everyone that stands up for their rights is a sovereign citizen. That’s incredible stupid.

    6. I LOVE that video!

    7. As opposed 2 U who open U’re mouth n make an ass o Urself.

  4. I’m sure he was pleasant with you because obviously you were the only male in the Lehigh Valley not part of the train that his wife was getting at that hour. Duh
